First time out on my bike since replacing lots of bits (new rear wheel, new bottom bracket, new chain, new cassetter, new chain-ring) so I wanted to give it a bit of a shake down.

It looked as though most of the snow and ice had gone so I headed off to ClimachX for a circuit there. It was OK, not much snow or ice really, just a few but of slippery ice on some of the fire-roads and some slush on the single track. The worst bit was the sharp bend before the rocky climb up to the bit oif single-track over the top. I had to stop here and push over it as it was just a sheet of ice, and the top of the final descent was a bit of a mess. Once past the rock garden it was great though.

It felt quite slow and hard and my time of 1 hour 10 minutes was terrible considering how hard it felt, but that could be down to the conditions - On top of the snow, ice and claggy mud, it was also pouring with rain. It could also be down to the fact that I did quite a bit last week so probably need a rest.

A nice ride though. I just have a long way to go if I'm going to do the Dyfi Enduro this year!
